Mr. Nelson Pena has 18 years of experience in education. He began his teaching career in NJ as a High School Business teacher. In 2017, he moved down to Florida and was hired at COHEA to be an 8th grade Math teacher. After teaching 8th Grade Math at COHEA Mr. Pena was accepted into the Doral Leadership Institute and transferred to Mater Gardens Academy where he was an administrator for 4 years. Now Mr. Pena is back at COHEA as an Assistant Principal and oversees the Math Department, Electives Department, Academies Department, Athletics as well as Safety and Security.

Mr. Pena has a Bachelors degree in Business Management from PACE University in Manhattan, NY and also has a Masters degree in Educational Leadership from St. Peter's University in Jersey City, NJ.

Mr. Pena brings a wealth of knowledge into his new role and is admired and cherished by students and members of the community.
